$170 Million in a Digtial Wallet! Tencent and KKR Makes the Largest Investment in Philippine’s Tech
7th October, 2018 (ChainDD) China’s Technology Giant Tencent holdings Ltd and the private equity giant KKR have agreed to invest 175 million USD to purchase a minority stake of fintech company Voyager Innovations, a subsidiary of the largest telecommunication service provider PLDT Inc.
Based on the agreement, Tencent and KKR will subscribe to up to $175 million worth of newly-issued shares of Voyager, thus become minority shareholders.
When the deal finishes as scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2018, PLDT’s ownership will reduce to less than 50% while remain as the largest shareholder.
Voyager serves millions of Philippine customers with the digital services including the digital wallet, money transfer and digital lending.
