In a long blog post sharing its roots, CoinMarketCap highlights how it has gone from a one-person side gig to the world leader it is today in crypto DATA. The star in a string of announcements is its new DATA Accountability and Transparency Alliance (aptly acronymed DATA), which will bring together partners across the board to contribute to a deeper discussion on how to bring greater transparency to crypto DATA reporting.

The first stakeholders to join the DATA Alliance are notably exchanges, which have risen to the occasion following the increasing focus on exchange volume reporting in the past month. Binance, Bittrex, OKEx, Huobi, Liquid, IDEX, OceanEX, Gate.io, KuCoin, HitBTC, Bitfinex .Upbite,have all committed to providing in-depth suggestions at a biannual roundtable on crypto DATA transparency and its impacts, as part of the responsibilities of being a DATA partner.

Additionally, CoinMarketCap has created a mandatory requirement for all exchanges to provide live trading DATA and live orderbook DATA, failing which exchanges will be removed from the adjusted volume calculations on the popular site. Every exchange has 45 days to respond and provide the DATA, ample time to create and submit the new endpoints to CoinMarketCap.

CoinMarketCap has ostensibly repeated several times that their stance is not to censor information, but to offer as much information as possible for the end user to draw their own conclusions. As such, the new DATA requirements, and the DATA partnership, aims to drive this goal forward.

Congruent with its DATA transparency efforts, CoinMarketCap has launched its own block explorers for the Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains, to help users new to crypto better understand how to interact with blockchains. The company stated that the aim of these block explorers is to introduce the general user to blockchains, with helpful explanations and tips. This also means that the experience was designed to be as simple as possible, without the power tools that a beginning user might not need.

New endpoints have also been made available.
