Chief executive officers of leading banks testified before the United States House of Representatives Financial Services Committee on April 10 on how the banking industry has transformed since the 2008 financial crisis. Among many topics spanning the breadth of the banking industry, the CEOs and lawmakers discussed blockchaintechnology and cryptocurrencies.

During his allotted time for questioning, Rep. Warren Davidson (R) argued that the industry is entering into a new era of innovation, wherein blockchain technology is transforming existing financial systems, as well as cybersecurity. Davidson also noted that the U.S. is currently staggering behind due to regulatory certainty issues.

Davidson addressed Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of one of the largest financial institutions in the U.S. JPMorgan Chase (JPM), stressing that back in 2017, Dimon called cryptocurrencies “not a real thing,” while this year JPM unveiled “JPM Coin” and stated that “we are supportive of cryptocurrencies as long as they are properly controlled and regulated.”

Uquid用户可使用XRP支付电费和为手机充值!

支付平台Uquid宣布，其用户现在可以在其平台上使用XRP支付电费、为移动设备充值、支付在线账单、购买食品券、进行无PIN呼叫等。150个国家的600个移动网络的移动用户现可使用XRP对手机进行充值。据悉，Uquid是存放、转移和提取电子货币的平台。

Ripple’s (XRP) has just received another major adoption from payment platform Uquid. According to an announcement on Uquid medium page, users can now use XRP for payment of electricity bills, mobile top-up, pay online bills, Food vouchers, PIN-less call, and other services on its platform.

Mobile users of 600 mobile networks in 150 countries can use XRP to top up their mobile phones airtime while users from Bangladesh, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Philippines, Qatar, and South Africa can pay for data bundles. 

For electricity bills and insurance, only users from Indonesia are supported with for now, while users in El Salvador and Guatemala can use it to buy grocery vouchers. Users in Guatemala and Philipines can also use XRP to buy pharmacy vouchers while only the united states users are allowed to use it for PIN-less calls.

After a 15-month long bear market, bitcoin is starting to show signs of bottoming. For one, the BTC/USD price today is trading over 40 percent higher compared to its mid-December yearly lows.

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund designated roles for each person on her panel of four. In the incumbent corner: two regulators and JPMorgan. In the other: crypto fintech company Circle. The topic: “Money and Payments in the Digital Age.”

“They have each agreed to a particular game where they have been assigned a role that resembles what they do in life,” Lagarde said.

Bittrex纽约州加密货币许可证申请被拒绝!

纽约金融服务部（NYDFS）周三表示已经拒绝了Bittrex对纽约州加密货币许可证的申请。NYDFS在一份声明中表示，拒绝Bittrex的原因是该交易所的资本金以及反洗钱要求存在缺陷。该公司“未能证明将诚实、公正、公平、谨慎和高效地开展业务”。NYDFS还下令Bittrex停止在纽约州运营，并在60天内关闭业务。

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Department of Financial Services said on Wednesday it has rejected the application of Bittrex, a U.S.-based digital asset exchange, for a virtual currency license that it needs to operate in the state. 

In a statement, the DFS said it denied Bittrex’s application due to deficiencies in the exchange’s capital, as well as anti-money laundering, requirements. It cited its “failure to demonstrate that it will conduct its business honestly, fairly, equitably, carefully, and efficiently.” 

The New York regulator also ordered Bittrex to cease operating in the state of New York and wind down its business within 60 days.
