Russia’s parliament has adopted in the second reading the bill “On Digital Financial Assets,” aimed at formulating national cryptocurrency legislation, according to a statement published on the parliament’s website on Tuesday, March 5.
The State Duma, Russia’s parliament, has adopted amendments to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation on digital rights, which provides a regulatory framework in the field of the digital economy.
The bill, “On Digital Financial Assets” — approved in a first reading by the State Duma back in May — has given rise to a lot of discussion within the Russian legal discourse.

There will be a demonstration of the Bermuda Insurance Exchange, which is described as the industry’s first distributed ledger technology risk and capital exchange.
A production trial will go live on the island in July. If all goes to plan it will bring savings and other efficiencies for brokers, cedants and insurers, and lead to a fully-fledged exchange.
“This is an opportunity for Bermuda to establish itself as the most advanced insurance market in the world,” David Edwards, chief executive officer of ChainThat, said.

Crypto Facilities交易量增长超500%!

Sui Chung, the subsidiary’s head of indices and pricing products, told CoinDesk that trading volume has increased more than 500 percent since Kraken acquired the futures exchange at the beginning of February for $100 million.
Crypto Facilities is perhaps best known in the U.S. for providing bitcoin and ether reference rates to CME Group, which lists bitcoin futures contracts.
In total, nearly $1 billion in crypto futures has been traded over the past month, across all five products offered by the firm: bitcoin, ether, XRP, litecoin and bitcoin cash, Chung said. Moreover, this growth is not limited to the largest coins by market cap.

Starting from March, the retail giant is gradually rolling out its new blockchain-powered product, Carrefour Quality Line (CQL) micro-filtered full-fat milk. CQL is touted to guarantee consumers complete product traceability across the entire supply chain — from farmers to the store shelves.
With CQL, consumers will be able to see the GPS coordinates of farmers whose animals’ milk was collected, get information about when the milk was collected and packaged, as well as find out about various stakeholders involved in the product line.

Cisco’s security researchers reportedly investigated cryptocurrency mining activity across various industry verticals. The research was carried out with Cisco’s security product Umbrella, which monitors clients’ network connections to screen malicious activity, including possibly dubious crypto mining.
Per the report, university campuses are ranked the second biggest miners of digital currency across industry verticals at 22 percent, second only to the energy and utilities sector, with about 34 percent.

Dorsey, who’s also the CEO of mobile payments company Square, made the revelations on Marty Bent’s podcast Tales from the Crypt.
Bent tweeted a photo of himself interviewing Dorsey at Square’s office. Naturally, the Twitter CEO retweeted the post.
On the podcast, Dorsey recounted that he first became interested in cryptography while growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. “We had a super-active hacker culture there,” he recalled.
Dorsey says he was on a cypherpunk mailing list that one day included a whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of bitcoin. Dorsey said Nakamoto’s brilliant explanation of the mechanics of bitcoin blew his mind.
“Read it, thought it was beautiful. I think it was one of the most seminal works in the past 20 years in computer science.”

The latest report released by United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) says that while the global trend of purchasing drugs over the internet, particularly on darknet trading platforms using cryptocurrencies has already spread across South Asia, it is particularly rampant in India.
“One recent study identified some online vendors over the darknet who appear to be operating from South Asia. The study identified more than 1,000 drug listings from India published across 50 online crypto-market platforms.
